Reinforcing their commitment to expanding educational opportunities and supporting the long-term development of employee families, Fundación PROMAX and Fundación UANL formalized a strategic partnership to provide scholarships for students who are currently enrolled in, or preparing to begin, high school and university studies.
The event included the official signing of a collaboration agreement between both institutions, as well as the symbolic presentation of scholarships to the students who will benefit from the program. Through this initiative, recipients will receive comprehensive support aimed at strengthening their academic journey and helping them achieve their educational goals.
This year, the program will benefit 85 students from Grupo PROMAX employee families, including 43 students from Zinc Nacional families. Scholarship recipients will receive a comprehensive support package that includes full coverage of tuition and university fees at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), transportation assistance, access to an English-language learning program, wellness and personal development resources, and opportunities to strengthen their professional skills.
The initiative seeks to reduce financial barriers that may hinder educational attainment, recognize the dedication and contributions of employees, and equip the next generation with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed academically and professionally.
During the event, Pilar Martínez, representing Fundación PROMAX, highlighted the significance of the partnership with one of the state’s most respected academic institutions.
“Today, we are taking a significant step forward through the signing of this agreement with Fundación UANL. For Fundación PROMAX, this partnership represents far more than collaboration with a highly respected institution; it reflects our commitment to ensuring that young people have access to quality education and the opportunities it creates. Together, industry, academia, and families are building an environment where talent can thrive regardless of economic circumstances,” she said.
For his part, Jaime Yazaqui, President of Fundación UANL, expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in the institution to help advance the educational development of participating students.
“I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Fundación PROMAX for making this partnership possible. Thank you for sharing our belief that education is one of the most powerful investments we can make to build a stronger future for Nuevo León and for Mexico,” he stated.
Representing Zinc Nacional, Chief Executive Officer Eduardo Alverde recognized the efforts of employees and their families while encouraging students to make the most of the opportunities provided through the program.
“Today, 85 students from our employee families are receiving these scholarships. It is a source of great pride to see how the dedication and hard work of their parents have created opportunities for more young people to continue their education. Education opens doors and transforms lives. I encourage each of you to take full advantage of every resource available through this program—from English-language training and mentoring opportunities to personal and professional development workshops. The knowledge, skills, and experiences you gain will enable you to make meaningful contributions to your communities and to the future of our country,” he said.
In addition to financial assistance for education, the program provides access to English-language learning, transportation support, wellness and mental health resources, mentoring opportunities with professionals from Grupo PROMAX companies, and workshops focused on strengthening personal and professional competencies.
Through initiatives such as this, Zinc Nacional and Fundación PROMAX reaffirm their belief in education as a powerful driver of social mobility and long-term development, creating opportunities that strengthen employee families and contribute to the success of future generations.
